OFFICIAL RULES
2011 APARTMENTS.COM "ROOMMATE OF THE YEAR" CONTEST
VOID IN ALASKA, HAWAII, TENNESSEE, U.S. TERRITORIES,
U.S. MILITARY INSTALLATIONS, AND WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW

1. SPONSORS
The "2011 Apartments.com Roommate Of The Year Contest" ("Contest") is sponsored by the Apartments.com division of Classified Ventures, LLC, 175 West Jackson Boulevard, 8th Floor, Chicago, IL 60604-2601 and is co-sponsored by ConsumerInfo.com, Inc. dba FreeCreditScore.com, 18500 Von Karman Ave., Suite 900, Irvine, CA 92612 (collectively referred to herein as "Sponsor").

2. ELIGIBILITY
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. The Contest is open only to natural persons who are legal residents of the United States and the District of Columbia (excluding Alaska, Hawaii, Tennessee, U.S. territories and U.S. military installations), who are at least 18 years of age as of April 25, 2011 and who meet the following eligibility requirements and have read and agreed to these Official Rules ("Entrants"). Void in Alaska, Hawaii, Tennessee, U.S. territories, U.S. military installations, and where prohibited by law. To be eligible, the Entrant (alternately, "You", "Your", or "Yourself") must be: (1) currently paying rent, or (2) currently looking for an apartment to rent, as of Your date of entry in the Contest. LIMIT: One entry per person. Employees of Sponsor, their parent companies (including Tribune Co., Gannett Co., Inc., Belo Corp., the Washington Post Company, The McClatchy Company, and Experian and ConsumerInfo.com, Inc.), subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, current advertisers on www.apartments.com, and those associated with the development, distribution or implementation of this Contest, and members of each of their respective immediate families (parents, children, siblings and their respective spouses) and their household members are not eligible.

As further described in Section 5 below, by entering, You agree to make Yourself available for promotional appearances (on dates selected by Sponsor, at Sponsor's cost and in accordance with Sponsor's expense policies) if selected as a potential Finalist and/or Winner. Each potential Finalist or Winner (see below) must sign and return to Sponsor an affidavit of eligibility/publicity/liability release and confidentiality agreement within five (5) days after issuance of the Finalist notification. Each potential Finalist or Winner must grant permission to Sponsor and their respective parent companies, members, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising/promotional agencies to use his/her name, address, biographical information, likeness, photograph, picture, voice, statements, the apartment which is featured in the submitted video and entry (including submitted video, photographs, or written materials) and must have obtained permission from any other person or entity contributing to, appearing in, or whose residence or property appears in any submitted video and entry, for administration of the next phases of this Contest, for public performance of the video entries on the www.roommateoftheyear.com Web site, and for promotional and publicity purposes in any and all media, including without limitation, television, radio, print, and the Internet, in perpetuity without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. If a potential Finalist or Winner fails to execute and return required releases or other requirements stated herein to Sponsor within the allotted time period, that Entrant may be disqualified, in which case Sponsor will select as a replacement Finalist or Winner, the next-highest ranked eligible Entrant who complies with all Contest rules and requirements, as determined by the Contest judges.

By entering, You agree to permit Sponsor to visit Your residence at a mutually agreeable time for purposes of videotaping and interviewing inhabitants to verify authenticity and eligibility.

Important Contest Dates
• Contest Opens: Monday, April 25, 2011 @ noon ET
• Deadline for Receipt of All Entries: Monday, June 13, 2011 @ noon ET
• First Phase - Announcement of Judges' Selection of up to Fifteen (15) Finalists: On or about Monday, June 20, 2011
• Second Phase - Public Voting Period Opens: On or about Monday, June 20, 2011
• Public Voting Closes: Sunday, July 31, 2011 @ midnight ET
• Third Phase – Announcement of Judges' Selection of One (1) Grand Prize and Four (4) Runner-Up Winners: On or after August 1, 2011 but no later than December 31, 2011

3. PRIZES
• One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive free rent for a year valued at $10,000, plus an additional $10,000, in a single check for a total of $20,000.00. Additionally, one year of FreeCreditScore membership that includes; free credit score, score profile, and credit monitoring; this membership is valued at $14.95/month for 12 months. Grand Prize Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $20,179.40.
• Four (4) Runner-Up Winners each will receive a check for $500.00. Total value of all runner-up winner prizes: $2,000.00.

Winners cannot assign or transfer their prizes to any other person or entity. Any expenses not stated herein (including, but not limited to, federal, state and local taxes or any other applicable fees or costs not expressly identified above that are related to participation in the Contest and the acceptance and/or use of the Prizes) are the sole responsibility of the applicable recipient.

4. HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST
To enter, visit www.roommateoftheyear.com (the "Web Site") during the period of April 25, 2011 at noon Eastern Standard time (EST) through June 13, 2011 at noon Eastern Standard time (EST), and follow the on-screen instructions to submit a completed official entry form, along with a video no longer than two (2) minutes in length in one (1) of the Contest categories set forth below ("Categories"), creatively making Your case for the title of "Roommate of the Year" and the coveted "Roomie" award following the Roommate of the Year Contest Judging Criteria ("Judging Criteria") set forth below:

Contest Categories:

The Loveable Compulsive
It’s not a glamorous job, but somebody has to do it. Making sure the electric bill gets paid each month and scrubbing the microwave after someone’s "soup explosion" two months ago sometimes makes You feel like You are running a daycare in Your apartment. But all that work is about to pay off big. Show us how You manage the household while still maintaining Your sanity and a year of FREE rent plus $10,000—total value of $20,000-- could leave You with one less item on that LONG to-do list.

The Purr-fect Pet Owner
Sometimes the best roommates aren’t even human. They may not pay rent, but pets are great at making us laugh or helping us get through tough times. Show us what makes You the best roommate to Your pet(s) including games You play together or tricks that they have learned and that freeloader can start pulling his or her weight by helping You win FREE rent plus $10,000—total value of $20,000.

The Environmentalist
Do you wash out and reuse plastic baggies? Switch out energy-guzzling 150W bulbs for CFLs? Know what "1," "3," "5," or "7" means on plastic bottles? If you're the roommate who makes living "green" a priority, this is your category. Show us your efforts to help save the planet and we could be recycling a year of FREE Rent plus $10,000—total value of $20,000 into your bank account (and promising to turn off the lights when we leave a room!).

The All-Star Roomie
If you have special roommate qualities that don’t fit the categories, or don’t want to commit to only one area of roommate greatness, use this entry to submit your video. Get crazy, get creative! But don’t just tell us why you’re the best roommate – show us – and you could win FREE Rent for a Year plus $10,000—total value of $20,000.

The Contest Categories are for Your inspiration. A Winner might not be selected from each category.

Your submitted video:

• Must include footage of You, and may not include any footage of any other person(s) or their residence or property unless You have secured all necessary permissions from such other person(s) in accord with Your representations under Section 6;
• Must include a statement within the first 20 seconds stating that the video is being submitted for the Apartments.com Roommate Of The Year Contest;
• May not include unsuitable or offensive content;
• May not contain content that is in violation of or infringes third party intellectual property rights including, but not limited to copyrights, including music copyrights, trademarks, and rights of publicity; and
• May not contain content to which You do not own all right, title and interest.

All entries must comply with the following technical specifications to be considered valid for entry:
• File size cannot exceed 100MB
• File type must be FFMPEG compliant (e.g. .mov, .avi., .mpeg, and .wmv).

Any videos not satisfying the preceding conditions may be immediately disqualified. Entries must also comply with all representations and warranties indicated in Section 6.

Entries must be submitted through the Web Site and received by Sponsor by noon EST on June 13, 2011. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete or misdirected entries, technical malfunctions, human error, lost/delayed transmissions, interruption in service, deletion, defect, line failures, computer equipment, software, inability to access the Web Site or any online service, downtime, or any other error or malfunction. Videos and entries will not be acknowledged or returned. By entering the Contest, You grant Sponsor a perpetual, fully-paid, irrevocable, exclusive license to reproduce, modify, edit, prepare derivative works of, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, exhibit, transmit, broadcast, televise, digitize, otherwise use, and permit others to use and perform throughout the world the submitted content ("Material") in any media, manner, form, or format now or hereinafter created, including on the Internet and mobile devices, and for any purpose, including, but not limited to, advertising or promotion of Sponsor, the Contest, and Sponsor's products services, all without further consent from or payment to You. All Material becomes the sole property of Sponsor and You hereby assign all rights, including without limitation all copyrights in perpetuity throughout the world, in the Material to Sponsor. Material includes to the extent applicable, any information and material (e.g., video and entry) submitted by You in connection with the Contest, all photographs, drawings, recordings, audiovisual materials, writings, and information or statements furnished to Sponsor by You.

Any personal information collected in connection with the Contest will be used and disclosed pursuant to Sponsor’s Privacy Policy at http://www.apartments.com/privacy.htm except as otherwise stated herein. By entering the Contest, You expressly agree to receive e-mail notifications from Sponsor regarding the status of the Contest. Unless You indicate that You do not wish to receive newsletters and e-mail from Sponsor by opting-out as provided in Sponsor’s Privacy Policy, You may also receive Sponsor’s newsletter and e-mail from Sponsor regarding Sponsor’s products and services and other information that might be of interest to You.

5. SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION OF FINALISTS AND WINNERS

25% Originality & Creativity
Create an original concept that creatively demonstrates why You are an exceptional roommate.
25% Overall "Wow" Factor
Develop a submission revealing a unique talent, story or personality trait that makes You a one-of-a-kind roommate..
25% Persuasive Argument
Make an enthusiastic and appealing argument for why You are The Roommate of the Year.
25% Style & Production
Overall theatrical performance and production value of the video submission.

First Phase: On or about June 13, 2011, a panel of judges qualified in the field of marketing selected by Apartments.com will select the top entries from all eligible entries, based on the Judging Criteria, up to a total of fifteen (15) Finalist entries. Finalists will be notified by Apartments.com on or about June 13, 2011, by telephone and/or e-mail.

Second Phase: From on or about June 20, 2011 through midnight EST July 31, 2011, each visitor to the Web Site will be allowed to vote online for their favorite entry from among the finalists. Five (5) Winners will be selected from the Finalists based on a combination of public votes and independent judging by the Apartments.com panel of judges, with the public vote comprising 60% and the decision of the Apartments.com panel of judges comprising 40% of the total vote weight. All voting will based on the Judging Criteria. Visitors to the Web site are instructed to vote based on the Judging Criteria, and may only vote for one (1) entry per day.

Third Phase: Between August 1 and December 31, 2011, one (1) Grand Prize Winner will be selected from among the five (5) Winners’ entries by the Apartments.com panel of judges based on the Judging Criteria. Each of the other four (4) Winners will receive a Runner-Up Prize.

In the case of a tie, the Grand Prize Winner will be the Winner who received the highest score/most votes in the Finalist voting from the Second Phase. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify entries that may, in Sponsor's sole and exclusive discretion, be deemed to create potential liability or that may be deemed to be offensive or inappropriate or otherwise ineligible for any reason. All decisions of the judges are final.

The selected potential Grand Prize Winner will be notified by telephone and/or e-mail on or about between August 1 and December 31, 2011 and must respond to the notification by telephone, fax or e-mail within three (3) business days of Sponsor's issuance of notification. Failure to respond completely and within the designated timeframe to the potential Grand Prize Winner notification or to comply with any other requirements may result in forfeiture of the Grand Prize and the next-highest judged among the Winners will become the Grand Prize Winner, subject to verification. Any Grand Prize Winner notification returned as undeliverable will result in disqualification and selection of an alternate Grand Prize Winner. If a potential Grand Prize Winner does not receive the Grand Prize, he or she will receive a Runner-Up Prize instead, provided all other requirements of these Official Rules have been met. Once the Grand Prize Winner is verified, the Runner-up Winners will be notified by telephone and/or email.

All Finalists and Winners may be required and must be prepared to make promotional appearances (television, radio, or otherwise) on or between June 20, 2011 and December 31, 2011. In the event a Finalist or Winner cannot attend a television promotional appearance, he/she may be disqualified. All Finalists and Winners must be available for promotional appearances (on dates selected by Sponsor, at Sponsor's cost and in accordance with Sponsor's expense policies). In Sponsor’s discretion, any Finalists and Winners may be required to travel participate in a roommate promotional event where the Grand Prize Winner will be announced. Location, airport, airline, hotel, meals and ground transportation to be selected by Sponsor in its sole discretion. All travel must be completed on dates, times and to/from airports designated and/or approved by Sponsor. Each Finalist or Winner must have valid identification and any other documents necessary for air travel. Any item or expense incurred in connection with promotional appearances not specified above is the responsibility of the Finalist or Winner. Potential travel and promotional appearances are in Sponsor’s discretion and are a condition for eligibility and not part of any prize.

6. GENERAL CONDITIONS
By participating, You agree to be bound by these complete Official Rules and the decisions of the judges, which are final on all matters pertaining to the Contest, and You waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Contest or these Official Rules. Sponsor's determination as to whether Your submission potentially violates the rights of any third party is final and binding.

By entering the Contest, You represent and warrant to Sponsor that:
• You own all right, title and interest in and to the content of the submitted video;
• the video does not include unsuitable or offensive content;
• the video does not include any content that is in violation of third party intellectual property rights including, but not limited to copyrights, including music copyrights, trademarks, and rights of privacy or publicity;
• You have all rights necessary to submit the video in accordance with these Official Rules;
• You own all rights to Your submission, including, without limitation, the copyrights in the recording and the performances contained therein; and
• You have obtained permission from each person whose name, image, likeness and/or voice ("Likeness") is included in Your submission, and that such person(s) have granted You all necessary rights to use their Likeness as described in these rules, and that You can make written copies of such permissions available to the Sponsor upon request. If the Likeness of a minor is included, such grant of rights must include written permission from the minor's parent or legal guardian authorizing the use of the minor's likeness on behalf of the minor.

All federal, state and other tax liabilities arising from this Contest will be the sole responsibility of the Prize Winners. Sponsor, their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotions agencies, and each of their respective employees, agents and contractors shall have no liability and shall be held harmless by You for any and all damage, loss, liability or any injuries to person or property, due in whole or part, directly or indirectly, by reason of Your participation in this Contest, or Your acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize(s) awarded hereunder to You. Any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or any prize awarded, shall be resolved individually in Chicago, Illinois, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by arbitration. Any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest, but in no event attorney's fees. Sponsor, their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotions agencies, and each of their respective employees, agents, and contractors are not responsible for and shall not be liable for: (i) late, lost, delayed, misdirected, incomplete or unintelligible entries, telephone system or computer malfunctions, lost connections or transmission errors; (ii) any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by the acceptance, possession or usage of any prize or from participating in the Contest; or (iii) any printing, typographical, administrative or technological errors in any material associated with the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, modify, suspend or adjust the dates of this Contest (with or without awarding any prizes) should a virus, bug, computer problem or other causes beyond Sponsor’s control corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the Contest. Sponsor may prohibit You from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if it determines You are attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, hacking, deception, using automated voting, submitting any unauthorized content in the video, or other unfair playing practices or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other participants or Sponsor representatives. In case of a dispute as to the identity of a Prize Winner, such entry will be declared made by the registered user of the e-mail account, provided all other requirements are met. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEY'S FEES) TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.

7. RULES/WINNERS LIST
The Prize Winners will be posted on http://www.roommateoftheyear.com on or about between August 1 and December 31, 2011.
